Kaela, Class of 2012 | High School Senior Photographer, Orange County

As soon as I met Kaela I could tell what a sweetheart she is… quiet and shy but so sweet with a spunky side.  I was given the challenge to find a location to match the awesomeness that is her style…. check out the colored tips of her hair. Not many people can pull that off and it looks awesome on her!  However, preppy Orange County, California doesn’t have offer much spunky, rock star, grunge locations so I had to drive around one day to really seek it out… I don’t think I did too bad!

Kaela is starting college in the fall and will continue to be a star runner.  I look forward to hearing about her future success!

Pin-It-Up, Hubby! | Orange County, CA Pin-up Boudoir Photographer

I was so excited when one of my very dear friends contacted me about doing a Pin-up inspired photo shoot for her husband. It’s an era that her and I are both in love with, and after this session I’m convinced she should have been born in the 40’s! When planning this shoot, we wanted to break it up 3 ways- 1) Hot housewife 2) Hot car model (Her hubby is crazy about his new truck so we had to combine his two favorite things! 🙂 ) and 3) Hot beach babe!  This shoot was so much fun and I can’t wait to do another one like it!!

Sexy time…boudoir photo fun! « Pop the Champagne - […] fun and less like I had to look like a Maxim model. You can check out more of my photo’s on Whimsy Tree Photography’s blog here. (warning: there is some serious side boob in these photos!) My fave photo of the bunch…the […]

Rebecca, 2012 Senior | Orange County High School Photographer

I’ve said this before and I mean it with all my heart: Rebecca’s spirit shines as bright and as beautifully as the sun!  So the beautiful sundown in which we captured these photos suited her well.  I was so excited when Rebecca contacted me to her senior portraits because it was my first official high school senior shoot and when we had the chance to speak on the phone to discuss her shoot, I knew I was dealing with someone really special. I asked her to bring some items to the shoot that mean something to her and represent who she is, so she chose her Bible and her camera … She loves the Lord and taking photos 🙂  I knew we would be great friends! Rebecca was her high school class Valedictorian and will be going to UCI in the fall. I’m excited to see all the wonderful and exciting places she goes!

Seeing the Light | Orange County, CA Senior Photographer

Simply put- It’s hands down my most favorite session.  I’ve never been moved downloading photos like I was when I was downloaded these.  I actually got choked up! It was the first time where I allowed myself to be proud.  I saw myself beyond the girl who was afraid to call herself an actual photographer. It felt like a turning point.

My photography journey began less then a year ago.  And like a lot of people, I immersed myself into what everyone else is doing in their own journey.  There is SUCHHH amazing talent out there and it becomes hard to look past all of that and allow yourself time to just get there.  I wanted to be good- like yesterday.  I’m not saying I’ve completely moved passed this (or always see myself as “good”)  but I’m now allowing myself to relish my own journey. I’ve come a long way from where I started and I have a very long way to go. I know I’ll never stop learning, and I don’t want to!

Come the morning of the shoot, I couldn’t have been more thrilled knowing what I had to look forward to… until I looked out the window.  Sometimes sunny Southern California isn’t so sunny. In fact, on this day it was downright GREY and cloudy… by the time evening came along, it looked like bed time by 5pm- that’s how dark it was out! We had to move fast once we found our spot because the sun was really almost gone behind the clouds… it was at 6:36 (yes, I checked and that’s when the first click of my shutter was) and I knew I only had till about 7-715, tops before it was too late.

Thankfully, it wasn’t too late.  I got some photos that I know I will love and will mean so much to me no matter where I go in my photography journey. I will look back and not only see them as beautiful photographs of beautiful girls, but I’ll see the girl behind them who finally started to believe in herself.

Melissa - Denise these photos of the girls are real beauty’s and definatley something to be proud of! The camera loves them and the photographer (you) knew how to capture the “eye candy” moments! These pictures and basically all the pictures you have done in which you put your heart and soul into are definatley considered money shots! Great job and I can’t wait to get my turn one day with you!

Sherry Ellen Photography - I just wanted to say stunning photos, you should be very proud of yourself, I hope someday I can be as good as you.

Chelsea - Denise! It is such a priviledge to get to read your thoughts and to be featured as one of your early sessions. I am amazed at people like you, who God has given the eyes of an artistic visionary, and the drive to create even when starting out makes you feel like a little fish in a big pond. There might be a lot of good photographers out there, but you Denise have something so special that comes through your photographs. It’s not just professionalism, it’s heart! When I look at your shoots with people I’ve never met before, I don’t feel like I’m looking at a model, but at a friend. You have a way of bringing out the best in the people (& kids!) you photograph, while still showcasing their true personality. It’s lovely. Keep up the good work! Photography is a blessing to those who you photograph, & in reading your blog I can see that it’s a blessing to you as well 🙂

Audrey Boehme - These are so soft and pretty! You did an excellent job, really love your processing!!

Toni | Austin Portrait Photographer - These photos are beautiful! You’ve got a great eye.

Cayton Heath - Girl you almost made me cry while I read this post!!! I have never heard my own thoughts put on a post before but you said it. It makes me feel good to know that there are other photogs out there who are WAY to critical of their work (cause honey I thought you had been doing this alot longer then you said). I feel like I am the only photographer that says to herself “Agh, I can’t believe people like my work…it doesn’t look like so and so’s…am I getting worse not better…I can’t believe I posed them like that could I not see the tree coming out of their heads!!” (Just to recite a few)
So thanks for sharing so honestly with all of us. You have a new fan and cheerleader here.
